Rugrats Cartoon: Rugrats Characters
Rugrats is an American television series created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo, and Paul Germain for Nickelodeon. The series is concentrated on toddlers named Tommy, Chuckie, and Angelica and twins named Phil and Lil. the series focuses on their day-to-day adventures.
The series premiered for the first time as the second Nicktoon on August 11, 1991. The show premiered with an initial installment of 65 episodes for three seasons. Then they suddenly stopped production in 1993, with their last episode aired on November 12.
Between 1995 to 1996, Rugrats aired only new episodes named A Rugrats Passover and A Rugrats Chanukah. Both of these were Jewish-themed and gained a critical response. At the end of this show, Rugrats again gained a boost in rating.
Klasky Csupo started producing new episodes for the fourth season of Rugrats in 1996. The company even released a theatrical film named The Rugrats Movie because of the popularity of the show.
In 2001 Nikolodeon even broadcast a special episode of Rugrats named All Grown Up to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the series. The show gained over 20 awards, including Daytime Emmy awards, Kid?s Choice awards, and a Hollywood Walk of Fame. Rugrats’ characters are varied and possess extraordinary personalities.
Rugrats Characters Explained
Rugrats characters are babies who seek to find adventure in their imaginative world. The premise is set at Tommy?s house, where his parents want their grandpa to babysit the kids. However, you can not find any specific city or state mentioned on the premise. But you can guess the area from the license plate designs, post offices, trips to Grand Canyon, and Las Vegas. So you can tell that the story is based in the areas of southern California.
Rugrats characters are funny and adventurous. The characters have distinct personalities. So you can relate to each of them.
Tommy Pickles
The main character of the series is an adventurous one-year-old baby named Tommy Pickles. Tommy is Thomas Malcolm, the protagonist of the show.
This Rugrats character is bald, wearing a t-shirt and a diaper. He has big eyes and a very soft-spoken tone of voice. He translates adult words into baby gibberish. According to the creator of the show, she has made the character of her own son.
He is the leader of the clan and is very intelligent, outspoken, and compassionate. He can articulate everything when he talks. He has an interesting perspective on life, even at the age of only one.
He leads his Rugrat friends on various expeditions to reveal the mysteries of life. His father is Christian, while his mother is Jewish. He is the one who is leading the baby gang of Rugrats into new adventures.
Chuckie Finster Jr.
Chuckie Finster Jr., or Charles Crandall Norbert, is his best friend of Tommy. Chuckie has a tragic past because her mother, Melinda, died when he was only a few months old.
Chuckie worries about everything. He is like those kids who imagine monsters in their everyday closets. He worries about everything and that every adventure will go wrong somehow.
Chickie is fearful of Tommy?s adventures. He always worries something will go wrong. In every clan, you will find a person who worries a lot, and Chuckie is filling up the position. He hates being left alone. He is afraid of the dark and dank garages.
Angelica Pickles
Angelica Charlotte Pickles is also the main protagonist of the show. She is the cousin of Tommy Pickles and also an archenemy of the main character. But, according to Angelica, she is the prettiest girl in the universe.
You will see that her character is mean, negative, and tyrannical. She can talk to both grown-ups and toddlers in their own language. However, angelica mostly has negative traits. She manipulates her parents, shows off to strangers, and runs for shelter when she comes to play with the Rugrats.
She often uses phrases such as, ?you dumb babie.? angelica is the daughter of two parental characters, Drew and Charlottle Pickles, who are mean and rude. Angelica has traits of bullying and poking fun at their cousins. Even the older version of Angelica is a self-centered and mean character.
Phil And Lil DeVille
Phillip Richard William DeVille is also a main character in the Rugrats. Phil is Tommy?s friend and is close to his twin sister Lil. Phil is the tritagonist in the series means he plays the 3rd most important character. Phil?s sister?s full name is Lilian Marie Jilian DeVille.
Phil is the next-door neighbor to Tommy. Phil and Lil like to have fun by cooking mud pies with worm bugs and other slimy creatures. Phil goes on adventures with the Rugrats and is usually messier and scarier. While his sister Lil is more inclined toward taking care of bugs, worms, and slimes.
Phil and Lil are two adorable twins who are almost alike. They even dress the same way, like both wear pink and black pin-stripe shirts. They have a handkerchief on the left side and a duck on the right side. They also have brown hair on top of their heads.
Phil is younger than Lil in two minutes and wears blue shoes. Phil?s skin is peach-colored, and his head is football-shaped. Phil and Lil are both inseparable characters.
In All Grown Up, Phil wears cargo pants and an orange shirt. In the latest series, Lil keeps her pink bow tie.
Susie Carmichael
Susanna Yvonne is a recurring character in the Rugrats while she has been termed as the main character in the spoon series All Grown Up. In the main show, Susie is Angelica?s rival and motivates the Rugrats to stand up against the menace caused by Angelica.
However, she tries to get along with Angelica. She is 3 years old in Rugrats and 12 to 13 years old in All Grown Up. Despite the rivalry, Susie likes to get along with Angelica and tries to befriend her.
Kimi Finscher
Kimi Watanabe-Finster is the main character in Rugrats. Her first introduction to the show was in Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (2000). She is a step-sister of Chuckie and belongs to a Japanese household.
Kimi?s mother, Kira, married Chas Finster, and thus he became a regular and the last character to be introduced in the Rugrats show.
Dil Pickles
Dylan Prescott or Dil Pickles, is the youngest brother to Tommy Pickles and younger cousin to Angelica Pickles. He was only 3-4 months old when he was introduced for the first time. He calls Angelica by the name ?Yucky?.
He is the youngest member of the Rugrats because he is an infant. According to his brother Tommy, it’s his ?responsibility? to teach Dil about the ways this world functions.
You will find Dil Pickles, a 9-year-old boy in All Growed Up, where he has adhered to a personality. He enjoys wearing bizarre outfits and gathers information regarding the alien invasion.
Spike The Dog
Spike is the most trustworthy pet of the Pickles family. He is Tommy?s animal best friend. Spike is considered the main character in the series. He is also a constant companion to the Rugrats adventures.
Tommy mentioned that he belongs to an extremely rare breed that is a fictional Siberian Tiger Hound. Spike is very protective of the clan and will protect them as if they are his babies.
Spike is a very friendly dog; his main interest is food and his wife FiFi.
